23rd Trappings of Texas at Museum of the Big Bend

by Andrew Suber on March 4, 2009

This is an excellent event that showcases western handicrafts, culture and art. Deluxe saddles, knives, jewelry, spurs etc. Check it out. It occurs in conjunction with the Cowboy Poetry Festival at the Museum of the Big Bend from February 27th on. You can find the Museum of the Big Bend at the Sul Ross campus in Alpine.

Here’s a look at some of the handiwork there at the Trappings of Texas:

And finally, the president of Sul Ross cuts in a very long line to eat some shrimp. Rank has its privileges.

The Avalanche reports on the selected lecturer.

Would you please send me information on the Trappings in February. I am a Master bootmaker as well as a saddlemaker and would like to know if items need to be juried etc. Thank you for your time on this matter.
