There is no objectivity,
rather an endless collective of individual subjective narratives set on your Firefox browser to repeat ad nauseum. It has always been this way; only now our cultural institutions reflect it.

O WHAT BRAVE NEW WORLD

Everything is on YouTube. Everything is on Google. Everything is on Wikipedia. Here comes everybody. This destroys individuality, because we all use the same identical cultural resources. This fosters individuality because it allows an individual to develop particular esoteric tastes– furry porn, 70s avant garde rock, german sitcoms, batik, ufology, etc.

As technology advances, it reverses the characteristics of every situation again and again. The age of automation is going to be the age of ‘do it yourself.’

It is cheaper to record video and publish it online than to write. After all, as Virginia Woolf pointed out, you need a psychological space of independence and solitude to write. It is much cheaper to purchase a cell phone or flip camera.

Perhaps this is a sea change. Perhaps the Cervantes of video lies in our midst as a child recording his brother reciting nursery rhymes.

In this electronic age we see ourselves being translated more and more into the form of information, moving toward the technological extension of consciousness.
