UPDATE V:Evi Quaid has painted a sign accusing Deputy James Davis of accepting bribes.
Marfa was electric with a sort of carnival atmosphere due to the national attention that the Quaids have brought. I spoke to the very pleasant woman at the Sheriff’s Department. Oddly enough, because she was at work, she was keeping up with the hubbub by reading TMZ.com. The phone was ringing off the hook with press inquiries.
Rumors are swirling around: Deputy Davis is suing for libel, Randy Quaid has left town, Evi stormed into the City Hall, etc. There is little actual news, but camera crews scour the streets in pairs. People at the local bar were planning t-shirts to commemorate the occasion: QUAID RAID 2009.
UPDATE IV: “Deputy James Davis of Presidio County Sheriff’s Office in Marfa, Texas tells TMZ Evi [Quaid] showed up at the station just moments ago screaming at him, accusing him of being “a crooked, corrupt cop” who concocted “a plot against her and her husband.” Click here to read the rest of the article at TMZ.com.

Call me crazy, but I am starting to feel sympathy for these two. At least they have the class to thank the policemen of the Sheriff’s department. Also, wouldn’t you resort to a civil suit or a bill collector before you had someone arrested?
