This Week in West Texas: The Shelby Mustang Car Show, Richard Hell, the Kenneth Brian Band and More!

This Week in Alpine:

September 30th – Head to the Railroad Blues and check out the Kenneth Brian Band on Friday night. This rockin’ band offers a gritty mix of Southern guitar riffs and contemplative lyrics to create a soulful sound.  The party starts at 10 p.m.

October 1st – The CatchLight Art Gallery will host a reception for their newest exhibit titled, “Anatomy of the Desert.” Featuring pastels by Nancy Whitlock and sculptures by Willis LeJeune, this nature inspired collection is a must-see for art enthusiasts.

October 1st – Fast cars and automotive fanatics will be easy to find at The Stable Performance Cars in Alpine during the Annual Shelby Mustang Car Show.  The owners and drivers of over 45 world-class vehicles will be on hand to answer questions and show off their magnificent performance cars. Arrive early as parking may be hard to find.  

This Week in Big Bend:

September 26th – Outdoor enthusiasts can experience Big Bend State Park on the seat of a mountain bike through September 30th. Guided tours range from one to four hours and offer participants the opportunity to explore some of the most rugged terrain in the park. Advance reservations are required to participate in this incredible experience.

This Week in Marfa:

September 29th – CineMarfa will host punk rocker/filmmaker Richard Hell at the Crowley Theater at 7 p.m. This influential musician was the leader of The Voidoids and has written a number of books and screenplays. He will screen a 20-minute film that he wrote, directed and acted in, called “Meet Theresa Stern.” A short Q & A session will follow the film. 

September 30th – Based out of San Antonio, Mariachi Las Alteñas, an all women mariachi group, will perform a free show at the Capri Building. Their performance is in conjunction with the “Autobody” art exhibit. The night will begin at 6 p.m. with the opening of the exhibit and musician Mick Barr will perform at 7 p.m.

October 1st – Located along the railroad tracks on South Highland, Farm Stand Marfa features locally grown produce, food to-go and arts and crafts every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

This Week in Terlingua:

September 29th – Head south to the Starlight Theater and Restaurant for Diego’s Ceviche Special! Patrons of the Starlight have declared that this is the ultimate meal in Terlingua. Wash it all down with an ice-cold Bahama Mama for dessert!
